Lammersville
District Report
Our school did very well in the English portion. We were
much higher than the county average for San Joaquin County.
The math scores were not as high as Livermore, but were still
very promising.
Basically, if you look at the number of students who tested "Advanced" and "Proficient".
In virtually every grade, at least 50% of our students tested
at these two levels in English-Language Arts. Several grades
(4th and 7th) scored 70% or higher.
In math, almost all of our grades tested 60% or more students
at these levels (Proficient and Advanced). 6th-8th did not
fare as well, and this is something that the district has
been working on (our 8th grade students take Algebra).
Other areas are tested, but not school wide (5th grade is
the only grade tested for science, 8th grade is the only
grade tested for history).
Individual test scores are mailed home to each student (if
you child was in another school/district last year, make
sure you changed your address or check back with that school
in September/October).
The topic may be covered at the August Governing Board meeting
if you would like a more detailed discussion. Otherwise,
feel free to post your comments here.
CONGRATULATIONS to Wicklund School on some very good scores!
School Fundraisers
Being a brand new school, Wicklund Elementary
has some needs that could not be filled by the district.
In addition, school's often use fundraisers to produce assemblies
and provide funds for field trips. Fundraisers started before
school opened included the brick and tile fundraiser, which
has been very successful. An additional "fundraiser" has
been the book drive, started by parents trying to fill our
library's bare shelves. This is an ongoing drive and is seeing
some success as well. The Foundation is also planning future
fundraisers. We are exploring a golf tournament and other
events. Currently, here are some of the fundraisers the Foundation
is participating in:
Winter Carnival (in conjunction with Lammersville Elementary).
Donations for room baskets are greatly appreciated.
Dinner at Rubio's - 20% of all meals on 10/4 when accompanied
by a flyer (click here for flyer) will be donated to the
Foundation.

last much longer)
E-Scrip
Fundraisers have always been part of having
a child in school. Every year we seem to have more and more
of them. One way to raise funds for the school that doesn't
require selling items is Scrip. E-Scrip allows us to raise
funds simply by doing the things we do every day, shop. If
you shop at Safeway, you can register to have a portion of
your total purchase sent to WSF. Also, you can register certain
credit cards to cover purchases at other store. You can register
here: www.escrip.com/.

easy way.
Wicklund's First Fundraiser
- Brick and Tile
As their first fundraiser, the Wicklund School
Foundation will be selling personalized bricks and tiles.
The tiles will be placed around the base of the stage at
the outdoor amphitheater. The bricks will be paths leading
to this area from the upper grade classrooms. Pictures of
the sample bricks and tiles are shown below.
The cost for each brick or tile will be $40.
Order forms are available here:

This will enable you to personalize your brick or tile.
The tiles are 6 inch tiles and will have 4 lines of up to
20 characters. The picture shows a graphic of two children.
This graphic is not part of the standard package, and is
not available as part of our package. The bricks are standard
red bricks which are customizable with 3 lines of up to 20
characters per line.
Orders will continue to be taken, but only
for a short time, so get your orders in!

School Site Council
The school site council will be a board of
10 members, responsible for a multitude of issues, including
creation of the student/parent handbook, creation of the
safety plan for the school, coordination of the dedication
ceremony and recommendations to the Governing Board regarding
many other issues. Of the 10 members, 5 will be staff and
administration from the school. The other 5 members are residents
of Wicklund Village. Those 5 members were elected at the
March 31st meeting. 10 residents volunteered to be on the
Council. Based on recommendations from those residents present
at the meeting, those 10 names were put into a hat and drawn
at random. The 5 resident members of the board are:

Thank you to all residents who volunteered to serve on the
council, and congratulations to the five members who were
selected. They will have a very important task ahead of them,
and they hope to have the continued support of the community
as they move forward. Their first meeting will be held on
Monday, April 26th at 5:00 PM in the Lammersville Elementary
School Library.
On Site Day Care Facility
- CDC
The March 3rd meeting of the Wicklund Elementary Staffing
Committee also included a brief presentation about the Day
Care facility that will be housed on the Elementary School
Campus. As of now, the school will house 24 full-time children
from the ages of 2.9 years to 12 years old. In addition to
full-time child care, the school will also look to house
12-14 children after school. It was discussed that this was
a small number compared to the attendance at Wicklund Elementary
(185 students currently expected as of the first day of school).
No decision has been made as to how children will be selected
should the number of interested children exceed their licensed
capacity. You can visit CDI online at www.cdicdc.org.
You can also contact the program director, Stella
Montana.
These are very crucial issues to the school being fully
prepared for the first day. Many parents expressed an interested
in holding a coffee social on the first day to give people
a chance to meet their neighbors, and meet the parents of
children who will be going to class with their children.
If you are at all interested in volunteering at the school,
you should plan to attend the next meeting, if possible,
or contact the district office.
