WOW!!! This complaint seems a bit ridiculous to me. People have access to the tennis courts 166 hours out of a week.. Do 2 hours really matter in the long run?? We are a community and have just as much right to use our community facilities as everyone else. The tennis courts were chosen and approved partly because they were able to be reserved. What would 30-50 (the average MH residents that participate in the Zumba class) do if we showed up to the field and it was already in use? This class is actually awesome and a great chance for the community to come together and do something to benefit our lives and our health. Seriously get over it

The problem is the time of the Zumba classes. Zumba is held when people are home, coincidentally, that is the same time people are home to play tennis. So instead of looking at it as, having the rest of the day to play tennis, it needs to be looked at from the perspective of prime use. If you figure there are 3, maybe 4 hours, of decent tennis time between 5-9 (which is stretching it), Zumba is taking a quarter to a third of the tennis time on the days that it is being used.

This makes it seem like Zumba is somehow inherently better than tennis and that becasue there are more Zumba dances, it's ok for them to push the tennis players around. As was has been made clear, you can Zumba anywhere, but tennis can only happen on the tennis courts. No one is at fault for wanting the tennis courts, it's just a matter of finding better options, which Carolyn (?) is making efforts to do.

Just a thought, can the parking lot at one of the schools be used for Zumba? It's a hard, flat & level surface.

I sure hope this is the biggest problem we have here in our wonderful community. With all the action on this thread it appears it is. Lots to be thankful for; so little to complain about.

I know I was told that I can't use the parking lot during the summer for a drive through bbq fundraiser. I'm assuming that goes for all of the school property.

Can somebody from the Zumba class ask the school district? I don't think they would mind since it's only 2 hours a week just for the summer. This doesn't affect me since I don't play tennis or do Zumba but just trying to help with some ideas.

We have a great community with great people who brings so many good ideas. It's sad when some people just see white or black and not gray, if you know what I mean. Hope you will find a solution soon.

Am I the only one baffled that this has turned into a 6 page (and counting) debate. Seriously...

I think the tennis players should use Zumba as a warm up.

I have PM'd Matt Ballzarini to see if it is possible to use any of the schools playgrounds or parking lots. I haven't heard back yet. I will update all as soon as I know more.
Also we will be giving a Zumba demonstration or class ( not sure of the logistics yet) at the first Mountain House Relay for Life event.

Look, this a public amenity for the residents of Mountain House, of which the Zumba participants are and have as much right as anybody else to use it. The taxes collected to pay for this court are not just collected from tennis players. The truth is that you can fit about 40 people on a single court to do Zumba at once. So if anything that court is by percentage more the ownership of the Zumba participants than anyone for those very short two hours a week.
Zumba is not hurting anyone. It does not damage the court. We are actually wearing "tennis shoes" so you dont have to worry about that, just in case you were. I don't know about incorporating rackets into the whole Zumba thing unless you want us to spread out a bit...maybe unto a second court.
The music. Really? It's not that loud. My ears are fine. I didn't have any muffled sound or loss of hearing after an hour. The volume is totally appropriate for the location to the proximity of the nearest houses. And the lyrics in the songs??? People actually pay attention to that? But seriously, if it offends you then I would have to recommend that you turn around, go back to your home, lock the door, disconnect your internet and TV, stop all radio transmissions, hold your hands over your ears and go "la la la la la la la la I cant hear you!"
This is the United States of America! Like it or love it!
Now wake up!
Sharing is caring.

If they got prior approval and paid to be there why not?
Seems like some people just want something to complain about. Zumba is ONLY 2 times a week an hour each time. I could see it being a problem if it were a daily activity. Also, on the courts last night all I saw were little kids running around. Nobody was actually playing tennis. |
Just FYI, I was at the tennis court that night. There were 4 players playing doubles that night before me but they left the court because of the Zumba class (I believe they got distracted by the loudness level of the music). So saying no one playing tennis is not entirely true.

WOW now thats a case of bad argument.People thought this was important issue for them so commented on this thread .If you think people in this community should be more proactive in neighborhood watch , then pls start separate thread on that topic. things always not ends up right because it had gone through proper channel ex : case of a recall.
