Hi...we rented a trencher machine, "Witch Ditch", the walk behind one...we've wasted the last 3 some hours trying to trench a nice clean, straight line trench.  Is there anyone out  there who can come help us trench it properly?  Please?

Were in Questa, I'm looking for some help first thing in the morning before we take it back to the rental place.  Tonight is pretty much shot unless you can swing by soon.

Any takers?

Are you trying to trench for PVC irrigation pipes?

If so, I'd say don't worry too much about clean, straight lines.  The pipes are quite flexible and the trench lines won't be visible once you fill and sod.  As long as you can snake the pipe through the trench (maybe adjusting with a spade for particularly bad spots), you should be fine.

Using a trencher is always hard work, and I imagine very hard work in our soil.  It's normal to feel like you got beaten up by a grizzly the next day.

(I can't help in the morning, sorry, got to be in early neat and clean.  I probably couldn't do all that much better a job anyway.)

Oh, I remember those days.  When we finished our project we found out later that if you soak the ground (night before) with water it will allows the digger to penetrate the hard clay.  Good luck.

We did our best and ended up having to MANUALLY trench the part we needed to finish up.  That machine was just way to hard to use.  Thank goodness we don't have to do this again. :)

Although saving money doing our own landscaping - that just means that EVERYONE in the house who's old enough and able to lift is HELPING OUT!  NOT FUN.  :)
