It's Spring again here in Mountain House, the wind is blowing the flowers are blooming and shady characters are passing out fliers for window coverings, water treatment systems, landscaping etc.
CA law states any advertising must have a valid contractor's lic. #(6 digits) and a business address and phone number on it.
yes, I do pass out fliers myself once in a while for my real estate job and my hobby job selling shutters, but my ads are done the right way. 
Be careful, and never go with the lowest quote (unless its from me)Wink
If you have a shutters or blinds quote from a competitor in writing send it to me and I will see if my boss can beat it.  If you can't get your salesperson to write down his quote to include the manufacturer, model square footage etc. it's time to walk away.

A note I sent to the TSUD board (all of them) just now. If you're not aware of this issue feel free to contact me. We're going to set up a meeting next week prior to the next TSUD board meeting to: plan, prepare and communicate. Parents of freshmen students with special needs have questions. I want to capture them and represent.

I want to establish a support group for parents of kids with special needs, if you guys are interested, let me know. In starting this fight I am becoming aware of a lot of resources out there. Resources available to us if we ask. A support group with monthly meetings is something we can start. In need help though, got a full time job and work is demanding.

One thing you need to be aware of is that we are sort of out here on our own in Lammersville District. We get to pay off a 30 year bond for Tracy Unified and we're treated like we're an unwanted house guest. They didn't even talk to our guys when they came up with this nonsense. I will try and visit the Lammersville District folks on Monday and share what I have with them since TSUD failed to do so.

TSUD Board Members, I'm a parent of a child with special needs and I've requested the opportunity to address you at the next board meeting. I want to talk to you about the issue below (to zone kids out of Kimball to West and Tracy HS) that effects all of us in Lammersville.
The questions I have for the board are:

- Are you aware of the plan in development to send incoming special ed. freshmen to Tracy HS and West instead of Kimball as planned?

- Aren't enrollments addressed in board meetings?

- What transition planning have you done for next school year (happening a few months from now)

- Have you had a discussion with Lammersville about enrollment/transition planning?

- Did we have an influx of several kids with special ed. in mid May that led to this crisis?

- We know Kimball is stretched, was there a meeting called when you became worried about space?

- At what point in the year was this issue known to Tracy Special Ed Director? to you?

- Was it addressed at your transition planning meetings?

- What happened? I expect you all to know how many kids are in special education.

I assume these things are a responsibility of the receiving school district (TSUD) therefore I need to address these concerns to you. I want to know who is accountable and what solutions you have to offer. I want to know how you intend to deal with this planning and communication disaster. There are meetings twice a month and several others besides the published ones where these kinds of things should be discussed. The fact that your appointed person to lead the effort on this planning, does not have a plan yet, is frightening to me and my family. We are entrusting our children's education to you and as a special needs child we feel like we have to fight for every bit of resources we get for our son.

I am upset but I don't want to catch you flat footed at this next meeting. I want to give you the opportunity to do some work and get the information from your staff and your Lammersville partners.

We will have other speakers besides me and I hope you will listen to us and help us and our kids. Our transition to High School for these kids should be as effortless as we can make it. That's what I expect from the professionals doing the planning.

could you share with us the plan for the special education program at MHHS for FY 15? or does it kick in for 2016, 2017, 2018...

Special Education programs are struggling with funding. The shortfalls come out of the general funds and Mountain House High School is going to have some transitional issues before they can provide the full set of programs to our kids.

Don't be so sure our kids won't attend all 4 years at Kimball. I'm not settling for a convenient solution for any administrator or highly paid bureaucrat with a PhD.

Appreciate your response but I am riled up now and not taking anything for face value.

Sorry for your frustration Brian. My son was in special ed as well when he was going to school and I know how complicated and frustrating it can be working through the process.

One thing to consider, although MH freshman will be attending high school in Tracy this fall, next year they should be attending MH High School as sophomores. I'm sure TUSD took that into consideration when making their decisions on space and resources for this year's incoming class. Regardless of which school they attend this fall, MH freshmen won't be settling in for four years and will have to go through another transition next year. Just food for thought when thinking long term.

I have been posting our struggle against getting zoned into Tracy and Tracy West High on Facebook. Our Special Ed kids currently go to Kimball with all of the rest of the kids from Lammersville. This year incoming Freshmen are getting rezoned.   Some folks expressed their interest in supporting this and have given me some good advice. I want to represent because I know our School Staff supports us but can't get involved. I understand our locally elected MHCDS guys can't get involved either.

I am making an appointment with the Lammersville Superintendent and TUSD staff in an effort to prepare for the next TUSD board meeting 28 May. If you want to lend your voice to the effort I'm at 831.239.9393 and check out the MH Facebook Page to see what I know and where I'm going.

This is unfair, mainly because the decision is coming so late with our kids already having schedules for Kimball, IEPs etc...

Right!!! Our neighbors garbage was dumped over and all over our yard and my husband was outside picking it up when the neighbor came outside, said good morning, picked up his knocked over trash can, wheeled it up the driveway and left.
